You don't see many pickup trucks in Germany. This one would look normal in
Texas, but stuck out in Germany.

This is a bakery right across the street. They make really good jelly
doughnuts, but stay away from the black stuff made with figs or plums or
something.

Rick and Kara in the Kitchen

While Rick was at work, Kara and I visited some stuff around Dresden.
This is a picture from the Zwinger Museum complex, outside the
Math and Physics museum, which had lots of rulers and globes and stuff.

A fountain area. I'll have to go back and see it in the summer when the fountains are going. Anyone want to stich these photos together for me for a panorama pic?

The Zwinger was built for some king to get married in, but it didn't end up
happening there. Anyway, the crown is the crown of the king that was supposed
to get married.

This is a pic from under the arch of the opera house, towards a church steeple.
Unfortunately, I didn't get in the opera house this time -- maybe next time.

The Elbe river. The trail along one side of the Elbe goes for hundreds

Saturday Afternoon, we went for a walk around a nice part of town that
was hilly.

Sunday we went to Sachsische Schweiz (Saxon Switzerland) National Park.
It's very near Dresden. We went to one of the more famous parts, Bastei.
The river below is the Elbe, the same one that goes through Dresden (and Prague).

So these pictures are from back in Rick and Kara's apartment.
These are just some pictures of the windows in their apartment. They're
really cool: the handle down locks the window in place, the handle
horizontal allows opening along the side, and the handle straight up allows the
top to open a crack.

Rick and Kara in front of a church in Prague. It had a fancy clock.
|
(extra-BIG) |

It also has a really tall steeple that you can go up to the top of.
Pictures from the top are down a few.

This is the fancy clock.

but it didn't turn out all that great because I didn't zoom in enough.

Looking at the Albertinium, and the Frauenkirche in the background.
This whole thing I'm standing on used to be a moat and fortificatios.
The moat was (at least, partially) filled in, and the fortifications covered
over, and a little park put on top. The underneath is now a museum. But
much of the stuff on top (including trees) are on top of a big building
that has empty space underneath. Pretty neat.
